• The most visible difference for me between the wood pallets and plastic pallets is the ability to sustain floor cleanliness. During the time that I was at the factory in Gaffney, SC, the entire factory commented on the improved housekeeping of the production floor after we 100% implemented plastic pallets.
  
  The production team even commented that it was a cost savings initiative for them as their production lines became much cleaner without the debris from wood pallets. They saved labor as the amount of time needed to clean the floor decreased. The plastic pallets also begin to show improvement in safety as injuries related to splinters and nails become less frequent. 
  
  The factory that I’m currently in has taken the same approach as Gaffney, being that wood pallets are allowed in packaging areas only and not in production areas.  In the packaging areas we are seeing a large number of damaged Walkie wheels that are a direct result of wood chips that are locking wheels on these Powered Material Handling Vehicles and burning flat spots on the wheels.  These wheels are being replaced and even after raising the awareness we are still seeing an extreme amount of repairs for this damage. Overall I would say that the plastic pallets that we received from ORBIS have allowed us to maintain world class housekeeping results with minimal resources.
