ORBIS Corporation manufactures its products in a variety of high-quality
materials, including Polyethylene and Polypropylene.
Polyethylene (PE) is one of the most widely used plastic materials used in the
manufacture of plastic packaging. The features of polyethylene include: excellent chemical
resistance, ease of manufacturability, strength, and durability. PE is suited for typical
manufacturing environments as the material remains stable at temperatures encountered in cold
winters (below 0° F) and hot summers (just over 120° F). At temperatures exceeding 120°F, the
material becomes rubbery, thereby reducing the strength properties.
Polypropylene (PP) is in the same family as polyethylene and offers excellent
chemical resistance and ease of manufacturability that remain similar to PE. Polypropylene's
advantages over Polythyelene include its greater stiffness and elevated use temperature. Depending
on the application, PP materials can retain their strength at temperatures exceeding 150ºF.
ORBIS also understands that every application can have different requirements, depending on the
market and application. To meet these unique needs, ORBIS offers selected products in materials
that will help customers meet their requirements.
FDA-Approved Material Colors
Pallets and containers that service the food industry can be manufactured in
FDA approved material colors. All material ingredients used in the manufacture of
these finished products are approved as safe for direct contact applications with food. These
materials have been tested and verified by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and are listed in
21 Code of Federal Regulations.
ESD-Protective
ORBIS offers containers made with some of the most advanced
ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protective materials available. Our offering
includes static dissipative and conductive materials. To maintain its leadership status in the ESD
industry, ORBIS continually researches and trials new ESD protective materials.

Fire-Retardant Materials
Selected ORBIS pallets are approved by Factory Mutual Research
Corporation, FM Global, as meeting fire rating requirements equivalent to wood pallets. ORBIS'
FM-approved pallets meet Factory Mutual's standards for commodity classifications of idle plastic
pallets and the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) 13/2000 requirements.
